Pale Rice Malt - 15 LB
Produced by Eckert Malting and Brewing Co
Certified Gluten-Free
Naturally gluten free product malted in a dedicated gluten free facility. Produces gluten free beer. Use Amylase Enzymes to convert starches into sugars which can then be fermented by brewing yeast.
Premium quality non-GMO California rice germinated then dried with minimal roasting. Replaces pale barley malt for gluten free beer. Enzyme activity is lower than barley. Suggest use of bacterial alpha enzyme for more efficient mash.
Rice malt comes with an intact hull. Therefore, there is a higher hull to grain ratio resulting in less fermentable sugar per pound of malt. This attributes to a lower PPG as compared to other malts that has less hull. Rice hulls provide circulation and filtration in the mash process. 5 LBS of Pale Rice Malt contains approximately 1.875 LBS rice hulls; which is sufficient rice hulls for most 5 gallon all-grain recipes.

I tried malting rice myself (using the guide on this site actually) and while I had a few successful runs it’s just too involved for me to continue. This pale rice malt is excellent and well malted. Truly great quality. I’ll be a regular purchaser for the foreseeable future.

I use the pale rice malt in every light beer I brew as a primary component of my base grain profile, creating a great base. Having the ability to purchase in bulk is great!
Living in Virginia, I jumped at the chance to purchase bulk grains and have them shipped. I bought this and biscuit rice malt (two 35lb bags). The box they were shipped in was well packed and the grain bags themselves were in perfect shape.
