This is a Ceremix Flex and Ondea Pro exclusive recipe kit. This is an advanced recipe kit that requires the brewer to conduct a rising step mash, and also requires measuring and possibly adjusting the mash pH. Malts are a naturally gluten free product malted in a dedicated gluten free facility. Produces gluten free beer. Use required enzymes to convert starches into sugars which can then be fermented by brewing yeast.
This "Lager" style recipe kit is designed to be brewed like an Ale. Traditional Lagers use bottom fermenting yeasts that ferment at low temperatures for extended periods of time, and requires dedicated temperature controlled equipment. This "Lager" style recipe kit does not require any specialized equipment.
KIT INCLUDES: Step-by-step brewing tutorial including mash, sparge and boil instructions, Pale Rice Malt, Biscuit Rice Malt, James’ Brown Rice Malt, Dark Rice Malt, Gas Hog Rice Malt, Magnum Hops, Hallertau Hops, Whirlfloc Tablet, and Mangrove Jack’s M15 Empire Ale Yeast
INGREDIENTS NEEDED BUT NOT INCLUDED: Ceremix Flex AND Ondea Pro, 2.5 tsp Yeast Nutrient, Priming sugar (if bottling), and lactic acid to decrease mash pH if required.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: 8+ gallon brew kettle, 10 gallon mash tun, 5 - 10 gallon HLT, Primary fermenter with lid, Secondary fermenter w/ lid, Airlocks, Sanitizer, Thermometer, Grain mill, Stainless stirring spoon, Bottling or kegging equipment, and pH strips or meter.
Notice: This kit requires brewing experience and equipment that is generally considered a bit more advanced. If you are a novice home brewer it is recommended that you try one of our other recipe kits.

The more I drink this beer the more I grow to like it, could be because this type gets better as it ages? Not sure. I would like to try this one with the Naked Gas Hog next time as this one did produce quite a "smokey" flavour to it, perhaps due to the dark malted husks. I really like nice hoppy finish while not being too bitter.
'Doppel Dawg' Dark Rice Lager

This kit was developed in cooperation with James Eckert of Eckert Malting and Brewing Co in Chico. It is a close clone to his 'Doppel Dawg' which is a very Dark Rice Lager.
